Day 2:Dinner at Biancofiore, Bari

Biancofiore is on the Michelin recommended list and this is their description: Housed in one of the old gates leading to the historic center, this comfortable and well kept trattoria serves imaginative cuisine in a dining room adorned with stone arches and decorated in soft maritime colors.

Biancofiore specialize in typical Auplian seafood dishes but re-imagined in a modern style.

Inside the restaurant

Beautiful lighting

From our table we could see the kitchen

The restaurant offered a testing menu from the sea of from the land.

Table setting.

Hoa and Catherine decided to take the tasting menu from the land and me and Ngeun we took the tasting menu from the sea.

Hoa picked a red bottle of wine from the Puglia region

Cheers!

The first course is a series of 3 amuse bouche

Toasted bread with burrata, tomatoes, basil, and basil oil.

Fish croquette with a creamy tomato and paprika sauce.

Eggplant parmesan with tomato, mozzarella, and basil oil.

The 2nd course from the land is an Organic "LA Querceta" hand cut beef tartare with crispy fried shallot, basil, chili oil

This dish was really delicious!. The beef was so flavorful and our waiter told Hoa to drizzle more olive oil on top which is a must to enhance the flavors.

Me and Ngeun we got a lightly grill squid stuffed with seafood served with squid ink and herb sauce.

We both love this dish!  So light but yet so flavorful.

For the 3rd course from the sea we a got a Burrata agnolotti with minced shrimp, baked creamy tomatoes and roasted almond .

It was another successful dish.  Really delicious.

Hoa and Catherine were served a agnolotti with pata negra and drizzled with aged balsamic sauce.

Very nice presentation.

Here you can see the inside of the seafood agnolotti and the meat agnolotti.

4th course from the land is a braised iberico pork with onion, piquilo peppers, corn puree.

Hoa and Catherine really enjoyed the dish.

We got a roasted sea bass with corn puree and roasted piquillo peppers.

Beautiful presentation and the fish is very fresh and delicious.

Hoa ordered an extra plate of spaghetti with tomato sauce and it turned out to be one of the worst dish of the evening.  The sauce was so acidic and the spaghetti was so hard that we told the waiter to take it back.

For dessert we had an egg yolk cooked in syrup, whipped cream and dried red berries

I like this light dessert!

Coffee and chestnut crunch with vanilla cream, and cocoa powder

This dessert was also good but were a bit full so we could not finish it.

Overall, we had a great meal a Biancofiore.  The waiters were attentive and they took really good care of us.  The food is also delicious in a warm ambiance.

NEXT... Day 3-Matera
