Old Town continuation
This area is the most commercial where all the rulli are converted into shops.
Lots of people and lots of souvenir shops.
We are now on Via Monte San Michele street. Very commercial street with lots of stores.
We are moving along...
A quiet street
Here is the main attraction of Alberobllo with a row of iconic Trulli with signs and symbols to ward off bad luck.
Panoramic view of Via Monte Pertica
The domes of many
trulli are painted with different symbols of mostly in defense against evil
nature. Some of these symbols go back to antiquity but most used today are of
Christian religious nature.
Also note that on top of the Trulli's cone shaped roof is a decorative handmade sandstone pinnacle.
The Trulli pinnacles come in different designs and represent the
trademarks of the stonemason who built that particular Trullo. Some of the
pinnacles are disc-like with a sphere above and others just have a larger
flat disc-like shape.
Sign welcoming to take picture here and to make a wish at Vicolo Antonella
We took our photo and we all made a wish!
We are now pretty done with our visit and we are going back.
Winding street...
Continuing our descente into town.
A gelato store...
NEXT... Day 4- Ostuni
