Day 5- Bari-9/20/2023

Bottega del Tortellino

Bottega del Tortellino is located about 5 minutes from our Air B&B. We passed by it daily and we said we should give it a try and today we are staying in Bari so let's give it a try. The store is run by Signora Assunta Piccionne, heir to a family of artisan pasta makers since the early 1900s.  Bottega del tortellino is listed as the top 5 pasta maker in Bari so we are definitely in good hands.

Store Front.

As soon as you walking in there is a long display with lots of pasta.

Products are all hand-rolled, ingredients are selected among the best local suppliers, flours are carefully chosen by the owner.

On display are fresh spaghetti, oriecchete, ravioli, agnolotti, tagliatelle, gnochhi, etc...

Closer view of a few pasta

In the back is a large kitchen where all the pasta are hand made.

Tools to make pasta and on the right is the menu.

Catherine, me, and Hoa.  Ngeun is taking the picture.

Hoa ordered his pasta and is enjoying a beer while waiting.

This is all the pasta we ordered for the 4 of us.

Looks so yummy!  All the pasta are from 6 to 8 euros per dish.

I ordered Oriechheta cime di rape: Rapini rape, garlic chilli, anchovies, cherry tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil, and salt.

Hoa ordered spaghetti ragu alla Bolognese: plum tomatoes with mixture of minced meat beef and pork, celery, onion, garlic, extra virgir olive oil, and salt.

Note the spaghetti are hand made so they are thicker than the dry one but they are a lot tastier.

Catherine ordered Spaghetti Carbonara: Egg with guanciale (cured pork jowl) pecorino romano cheese, onions, garlic, extra virgin oil, and salt.

Ngeun ordered Spaghetti salsa ai Funghi: Button and porcini mushrooms, Potato, garlic, Parsley, extra virgin oil, and salt.

We had a simple lunch but all the pasta were delicious.

NEXT... Day 5- Pane e pomodoro Beach
