Dinner at Doraku-sushi

We discovered this restaurant while walking around.  Doraku-sushi is located on the 3rd floor of the Royal Hawaiian shopping Center which is next door to our hotel.  The shopping center is really nice and there are a bunch of restaurants but we like Doraku's menu and we decided to give it a try.  Apparently this restaurant is owned by the Aoki family of the popular Benihana restaurant.  This restaurant is also very busy for happy hour!  We came there too late for Happy hour but we we rather have dinner anyway.

The side door of the restaurant.

Road to Happines... setting up the mood for a nice time at Doraku!

As soon as you walk in there is a a sushi bar.

Saké bar...

Doraku specialized in Saké and has more than 25 of the finest Sakés available.  Hoa picked a good saké, I don't remember what it is but he liked it.

I opted for Lychee martini!  It was pretty YUMMY but a bit too strong for me so Hoa ended drinking half of it.

Onigiri with salmon stuffing to go with my Martini!

Hoa ordered a combination plate of Sushi and sashimi.

Doraku serves the freshest top grade sushi and sashimi and it definitely shows here the quality of the fish.

I can't beleive how thick they cut their sashimi!.  The fish was fresh, succulent and it was absolutely a feast.!

Kevin and I we shared the New Style Doraku roll.  This such a good roll!

The New style Doraku roll is made with crabmeat and avocado roll, topped with seared tuna, daikon radish, Shiso leaves and crispy garlic chips, finished with a special wasabi yuzu citrus sauce.

YUMMY! I really enjoy this dish.

The classic Agedahi Tofu!  I always order this dish in a Japanese restaurant.

Kevin loves beef so he ordered a Churrasco Steak-Ribeye (8oz) served with an Asian inspired Chimichurri sauce and accompanied by sautéed vegetable.

Kevin did not really like the chimichurri sauce but the beef is very good.

The vegetable do remind me of eating at Benihana which is pretty bland.

The classic Miso soup!

The emperor roll is made with tuna, Salmon. crab, shrimp, scallop, and avocado rolled together and deep fried in a crusted panko breadcrumb and topped with spicy aioli and sweet chili soy.

By the time the emperor roll came out, I was full and I could only eat 2 bites.  It is pretty good but the Aioli sauce was a bit too rich for me.

Overall, we had a great meal at Doraku!  The waitress was very attentive to our needs and the restaurant has a nice ambiance.
