DAY 3

After breakfast we are just walking around to check out the Royal Hawaiian hotel. Royal Hawaiian Hotel, also known as the Pink Palace of the Pacific, located anext to our hotel the Outrigger.  Royal Hawaiian Hotel is the first hotel established in Waikiki  and is considered one of the landmark hotel in Hawaii.  It opened its doors to guests on 1 February 1927 with a black tie gala attended by over 1,200 guests. The hotel quickly became an icon of Hawaii's glory days. It was the Hawaii residence or Western White House of President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

This is the park entrance of the hotel.

The courtyard.  I have to say the pink color is pretty ugly but you can never forget about it!

Walking in the hotel...

Nice hallway!

Beautiful flower arrangement in the lobby

Huge ceiling lamp

On of the many sitting area for guests.

Okay... More pictures of the Hawaiian hotel to come but right now we have to drive the North shore!

The north shore

The North Shore refers to the north-facing coastal area of Oʻahu between Kaʻena Point and Kahuku Point. This area is best known for its massive waves, attracting surfers from all around the globe.

The north shore is totally different from Honolulu.  The surrounding is lush and so green.  You can tell that this part of the island get a lot more rain.

The north shore is surrounded by mountains.  They are tall and very green.  The mountains are very massive and impressive to look at.

A house in the area....

Mokolii Island is popularly known as Chinaman's Hat because of its unique conical shape. The nickname "Chinaman's Hat" came from its conical shape resembled the straw coolie hats used by immigrant workers. Chinaman's Hat is one of the top spots for taking pictures on windward coastline. The island is visible from Kualoa Park.

This painting was inspired and based on the name of the island "Chinaman's Hat" off the island of Oahu in Hawaii.  Painted by Dean Howell

If you go to Hawaii, this painting can be found in any souvenir store.
