Day 3-Ancient City (Muang Boran) - Part 3

Trimūrti  is a concept in Hinduism "in which the cosmic functions of creation, maintenance, and destruction are personified by the forms of Brahma the creator, Vishnu the maintainer or preserver and Shiva the destroyer or transformer.

These three gods have been called "the Hindu triad or the "Great Trinity" often addressed as "Brahma-Vishnu-Maheshwara."

For those in pursuit of true love, the Trimurti Shrine is said to grant happiness in romance and is therefore known by Thais as the lover shrine.

The Pavilion of the Enlightened symbolizes the story of 500 monks from different cultural backgrounds who attained Nirvana despite initially having different very attributes and merits.

It’s a stunning structure.

The Pavilion of the Enlightened is not a building which ever existed elsewhere but only here at the Ancient City.

The decorative, intricately designed entrance of the Pavilion of the Enlightened - one of the most beautiful buildings in Ancient City.

Statues of golden praying monks.

The pavilion was under construction ...

Floating market here at Ancient city is small and very quiet compare to the one we visited in Pataya.

The floating market provides an ideal rural backdrop to the daily life of the people living on the banks of the river; especially the local life in the central plain of Thailand. The community relies greatly on water transportation; rivers and canals became the most important trade routes for people along the rivers. One result of their industry has been the gradual evolution of the floating food market.

A lady selling food on the boat!

Kanom Thuay is a special coconut pudding that's unique to Thailand.

Sold mostly on the street!

I love this dessert when I was a kid and I would eat at least 10 of them.

Kanomg Thuay is a steamed pandan coconut pudding enriched coconut cream. These little puddings are made in the small porcelain cups and are composed of 2 parts: the bottom part is the sweet pandan coconut pudding and on top is a salty coconut cream layer.  It is actually very good!

People ordering food from various boat passing by.

A lady selling mangoes.

Papaya salad made to order with ingredients you can pick from.

Flowers in the park!

Lots of bougainvillea bushes with multicolor flowers.

Not sure what type of fruit this is.

Looks really good but we did not dare picking it .. just don't want to get in trouble!

Plumeria flowers - Champa in Thai

This flower is very fragrant and in Thailand they soak the flower in water to perfume it.

Wild orchid growing on tree truck.

Hoa entering a Thai sanctuary -Shoes have to be removed!

This is the end of our tour!
This place is huge and you can spend the whole day here!  Our tour lasted about 2- 3hours.  We only stop to see maybe half of the structures but it was so long and we got tired after a while... but the main thing it is getting close to lunch time... and it is time to go!
