WhiteSand Doclet resort - Beach and water Sport
We are in August and it is the rainy season on top of that we encountered the tail end of a huge storm. It is sprinkling and overcast but it is still very warm. This is actually a blessing in disguise, if the sun was out all the time, we would literally melt. Even without the sun it is pretty hot. Locals really enjoy this type of weather so they can take a break from the regular intense heat.

The beach is very shallow so we had to walk pretty far for the water to go over our hips! That's pretty cool and safe! |
More Jet skiing ....
|
The kids like jet skiing here better than Nha Trang because there is barely any wave and it is much easier to handle the Jet Ski.
Plus they let you go on the jet Ski by yourselves! The kids liked that idea.
We were watching the kids on Jet ski on the resort's private beach.
Later on two ladies carrying Dau Hu (sweet soft tofu soup) tried to get our attention because they are not allowed on the beach.
Cost of each bowl is 2,000 dong = 14 cents, so we decided to get some. The ladies were so happy that we were interested in the food! The 2 ladies scooped the tofu very fast so they can sell us as many bowls as possible, before we realized what is going on within seconds, we got 7 bowls in our hands... The bill came to 14,000 dong = 90 cents and Hoa gave them a bill of 20,000 dong = $1.25 and they were so thankful and happy!
Too bad we did not take any pictures of the ladies selling tofu.
Dinner time...
Dinner was at the WhiteSand Doclet resort in a special area just for our group.
After dinner we decided to order some crabs and sea snails from the villagers that were hanging out the beach this morning. Dung, our tour guide made a few phone calls and the villagers brought 5 crabs (that's all they have left), some Vu Nang (Ladie's boob), basically they are sea snails shaped like a pyramid. We also asked Minh, our driver and Dung, our guide to join us for the crabs and the snails! Per the company policy they are not allowed to sit with us for dinner but since there was nobody around they agreed to sit with us.
We are so tired of the regular trio fruits dessert that all the restaurants are offering (pineapple, dragon fruit, and water melon) so we brought with us a bunch of Rambutans and Mangosteens from Nha Trang and we asked the staff in the restaurant to cut off the top of the mangosteens for us. I love Mangosteens! I can eat a kilo by myself. Smaller Mangosteens are actually better because you don't have any pit inside. |

Vietnamese crabs are actually smaller than the one in the States but they are still pretty tasty. The kids like them.
Actually, the kids likes everything that's good. I have not heard a complaint since our trip. If they don't like the food they just eat less but they are eating!
