Day 4- Old town in Faro-5/14/2022

We are on Rua Comandante Francisco Manuel with a beautiful view of the Rio Formosa (Beautiful Lagoon).

Although it looks like the sea, these calm waters are the lagoon of the Ria Formosa Natural Park, with the distant sandy islands sheltering the lagoon from the force of the sea.

Lots of boats on the Rio Formosa.

On the left is the remnant of the walls of Faro (Muralhas de Faro) that used to protect the city. The entrance of the Old city is on the right.

View of the part of the walls of Faro.

The walls of Faro was originally an initial idea of protecting the city.

We are going back to the old city by walking by the quay.

We are now back in the old town.

Arch way on Rua do Repouso.

The streets are very clean and there are barely anybody out in the streets.

Arch leading to the Muralhad de Faro (Walls of Faro)

These are the remnants of how the town of Faro used to be protected a really long time ago.

The title plaque depicting a scene where King Afonso is granting a doctoral certificate - Signed by Ruy De Pina-1497

We are continuing our walk on Rua Jose Maria Brandeiro.

We stopped by at Bago, a wine bar to take a look.  Hopefully we can come back her and have a glass of wine.

Looks like a fun place to hang around.

Main shopping area in the old town.

Lovely area to walk around with lots of souvenirs shops.

Beautiful Mosaic cobblestone pattern street.

We are now back to the main square in the old town.

Across the street is the Marina.

Lots of boats are parked here.

NEXT.... Church De San Pedro
