Jerzual street, Dinan-9/27/2023
Jerzual is a steep street going down hill to the picturesque Port of Dinan and it is lined with half timbered houses. There a quite a lot of local artists living an selling their crafts on this street. The origin of the name is uncertain, however, some believe that it might be the corruption of Jarjual meaning Rue Haute (high street) which would make sense considering the 246ft. slope of the street.
We are now entering Rue Jerzual.

Entering La Porte de Jerzual.
Porte de Jerzual was built in the 13th century to reinforced the city fortifications.
The gate was listed as a Historical Monument.
After the gate is Rue du Petit fort, right outside the fortifications.
We are now outside of the fortifications.
The area is really picturesque.
There is definitely a feel of walking back in the Medieval time.

So wonderful to walk around this area. Rue Jerzual and Rue du Petit Fort area among the most photographed streets in Dinan.

We are now at the end of the street with the medieval bridge that spans the River Rance.
