Day 1- Arrival

Hoa and I have not been camping for at least 15 years.  We were so glad when Mai-Ly & Tuan, Thuy & Duy, Phuong and Dung gracefully included us in their yearly organized camping trip.  Our group consist of 6 families (about 25 people) and another group of 25 people sharing the same camp ground.

Duy and his family arrived at the camp a few hours before us.  Here he is coming to greet us and help us putting away our provisions.  We were in charge of getting all of the drinks for the group.

Andrew helping us with our stuff....

Frozen marinated barbecue Chicken.  These will be used for our BBQ Chicken sandwiches and Vietnamese sticky rice.

Bear proof storage lockers

This was our tent! it was dubbed the "the Mirage" (referring to Las Vegas Hotels).  Compare to the Bellagio the Mirage is a step down.  Our Friend has a super duper tent that was envied by the whole group.  We called it the Bellagio which came with all the possibly camping luxury.

Setting up the table so all of us could enjoy all of our meals as a group..

Phuong and Thu preparing Bun Bo Hue (Spicy beef noodle).  A specialty from Hue.  This soup is very complicated to make and it takes at least 3 to 4 hours to make.

Phuong (the organizer), Thu (the Chef), Thuy, Mai-Ly and me standing at the "Kitchen" corner.

The ultimate professional cook stove, which was vital to our survival!

Justin preparing his own bowl of soup.

My turn to get my own bowl of soup...Yummy

Tuan, Me, Phuong, Mai-Ly and Thuy enjoying a hot bowl of soup carefully prepared by our chef Thu and her husband Dung.

By the way, in back ground you can see the Bellagio (tent)!..

Justin and Nicky savoring their soup!

This is only a small portion of people eating... Our group is about 50 people, including a bunch of teenagers that can really eat!

Anh Dung had to add more broth to the pot to feed an army of people.

Check out the table... you can see a bunch of kids here...

Next... Night fall
