Trestle, San Francisco- 11/25/2022

Dinner 11/25/2022 Dinner on 4/9/2022

We have been to Trestle many times and somehow I never posted any pictures so to remedy that I am posting tonight dinner and another dinner with friends back on April 2022.

Trestle is listed under the Michelin bib gourmand with an incredible steal for a three course menu under $40 with an option to add a pasta dish for $12.  However, choice are limited to two options per course but all the courses are always delicious.

The menu changed weekly with an emphasis on seasonal ingredients.

Trestle is located on the corner Jackson street and Columbus and walking distance from China Town and North Beach.

The restaurant is located in a century old building with red bricks.

The menu as you can see with an incredible deal for a 3 course menu.

They have 2 selection per course and Hoa and I we usually order one of each so we get to eat everything that is offered.

Course 1: Potato & Parsnip chowder with smoked bacon, Salmon roe, chive, and crème fraiche.

The soup is poured over on the table.

The soup here is always delicious and beautifully presented.

Course 1, (2nd option): Waldorf Salad with Point Reyes Blue cheese, Candied walnut, buttermilk dressing.

Green, red, and white the colors of Christmas.

Very nice and simply salad.

Kristie had to go to work so we went with Kevin.

The bread is a must order.  It is crunchy and so good with butter.

Kevin and Hoa enjoying their first course.

The building in 100 years old so when they opened Trestle, the interior was gutted but leaving the raw brick walls blackened (on the left) with tar that was probably used for insulation when the building was built. Black became the predominant color scheme, with the addition of a dark wide-plank wood floor, beautifully grained fawn-colored wooden tables and light wooden trestles across the ceiling, which is also set with sound panels to keep the noise in check.

Pasta Course: Winter Squash Risotto with Chanterelle, burrata, Maple-Balsamic reduction.

The special tonight is fresh truffle for an additional $20 that is grated on top of the risotto.

The 2nd pasta is a Pappardell Bolognese with short ribs sugo, garlic-rosemary breadcrumb, and parmesan.

Both dishes were very delectable.

For our 2nd course I selected the Roasted Salmon with cauliflower puree, pickled currant, fennel-pistachio gremolata.

The salmon was incredible with super crispy skin (just the way I like it) and the interior of the salmon is a bit undone (perfect for me) so it was moist and so flavorful.

Hoa and Kevin ordered the seared bistro steak with roasted yellow beet, Spigarello Kale, and served with a chimichuri sauce.

Hoa and Kevin really enjoyed this dish.

3rd Course: I ordered an Apple Cobbler with pecan Oat crumble and Bay leaf Ice Cream

Hoa and Kevin ordered the Chocolate Angle Food Cake with Poached pear, cashew brittle, and a chocolate Chantilly.

Both desserts were delicious and perfect end to a meal.

Of course I have to order coffee with my dessert!

We love to dine at Trestle and because we came here so many time Jason, the GM recognized us and gave us complimentary champagne, free bread and he did not even charge us for corkage fee.  They automatically charge 20% for tip but because they took care of us Hoa gave extra tip.

Not only the food is excellent, the interior is stylish and the service is refined and feels like upscale dinning as they changed plate, fork and knife at every single course.  Excellent service in a lively, joyous but very comfortable atmosphere.

Make sure to reserve a table if you want to dine here.
