Christmas & the Holidays - 12/29/12
Holidays Dinner with friends
What a busy December we had and by the time I realized that this coming week is going to be the last Saturday of the year and I have not invited our close friends over for a Holidays dinner yet! I planned for a quick menu, set up the table, and then e-mails were sent out to our friends for cozy an friendly family meal.
For my tablescape I wanted the table to reflect a white winter wonderland with silver and white ornaments under a blanket of white snow.

White... on white...with a few glitters on the table.

Clear hurricane vase and silver candle holders are used as centerpieces.

I wanted everything white and I think the table came out exactly how I think it should look like.

Dinner
This year I told everyone we are going to serve family style French comfort food!
Starting the evening with a salad trio:
Céleriac rémoulade (Celery root), roasted beets, and carotte râpée
|
|
|
|
Truite (Trout) aux haricots verts et amandes.
Blanquette de porc Bouchon style. A traditional blanquette should be all white but here Tomas Keller for Bouchon add glazed carrots and glazed turnips that why this dish is a lot more colorful than a traditional blanquette.
For desserts we had Grand Marnier Souffle but Hoa did not take any pictures. I don't know how we did it but we drank 2 bottles of champagne and 6 bottles of wine for a total of 8 bottles for 14 people. No wonder everybody was in a great mood!
Happy Holidays!
