Siam Reap-11/21/2023

Day 4- Downtown Siem Reap

We are headed downtown Siam reap.

Old market Bridge

Lights reflections on the river.

In the early afternoon part of Road 60 starts to fill with vendors pushing their carts and unfolding stands and they set up plastic tables and chairs along the river.

A street vendor grilling some meat.

This area is mostly for locals as most of the vendors do not speak English.

Of course, there are tourists but most of the people eating in this area are locals.

Tourists that come to this area are usually with a tour guide.

Large earthen vases for sale.

Old market bridge

The bridge is illuminated at night for the water festival.

Old Market is a traditional market located in the heart of Siem Reap.

I was so surprised to find Maison Kayser in Siem Reap.  Eric Kayser had his first boulangerie rue des Monges in Paris and I used to go there to get croissants.

We are at the corner of Pub Street.

At night time Pub street comes alive and the streets are so colorful with all the lights.

There are so many restaurants and bar on this street.

I was told that during Covid, the street was renovated and paved so it is a lot nicer and cleaner now.

The official name of the street is “Street 8”, but it is known as Pub Street.  Located is the center of action as the night falls in Siem Reap.

The street, starting off at the Red Piano Restaurant and ending at the Banana Leaf Restaurant, is a 330 ft. stretch of road speckled with neon lit clubs, bars, restaurants, and vendors.

There are so many restaurants to choose from and we picked one.

I ordered Amok which is the national dish in Cambodia.  It is a fragrant and spicy coconut fish curry that is usually steamed in banana leaves and served with rice.

The amok was pretty good.

Hoa ordered a Margherita pizza.

After dinner we just walked around a bit.

During the day it is a regular road but at night time the road is blocked off to traffic and becomes a pedestrian street which is very safe to take a stroll.
