We met up with the Lang's for the whole day in Bordeaux.

Parc des Quinconques - Monument to the Girondins (dedicated to all the folks living in the department of la Gironde).

At the foot of the Monument are two beautiful fountains on each side (see below).

The two fountains surrounding the monument are really magnificent. Next to the column, there are a couple of statues that honor two of the greatest names of Bordeaux. The 1st one, is dedicated to the philosopher and former Mayor of Bordeaux Michel de Montaigne. The other one, is dedicated to Charles Louis de Montesquieu, one of the architects of the "century of the lights". He was not only an intellectual, but also a winegrower.

Walking around Bordeaux. We went by a Castle and a Botanic garden. However, I can't remember the name of the Castle.

The kids are having fun that's for sure. This is in the "old down town" Bordeaux on the Avenue des Grand Hommes.

Cathedral Saint Andre

This 50 meter high tower was built in the 15th century, from its top there is an excellent view of Bordeaux, unfortunately we did not get a chance to get in. The Cathedral was close when you got there.

The Saint Andre Cathedral is the biggest church in Bordeaux, and it was declared part of the Santiago Pilgrims' World Heritage. The origins of this church date back from the XI century. Here is where the future king of France, Louis VII, married his fiancé Eleanor of Aquitaine in the XII century.

Just kidding, it is actually a drinking fountain.

We stumbled on this restaurant located in a big court yard. The food was actually pretty good and it has a really nice atmosphere.
