Les Nuages, Shanghai- 2/11/2023

For my birthday I selected to dine at Les nuages, a Michelin selected restaurants in Shanghai.

Les nuages is located on the 57th floor of the Raffles City The bund East tower with breathtaking view of the city.

As soon as you get off the elevator you see the lobby of the restaurant.

The restaurant is incredible modern with super high ceiling and a sleek design.

The interior is so impressive with a giant tower at the end of the restaurant.

The menu

Bread made in house and serve with butter.

The bread was delicious!

I ordered the Tuna noodles (left) and Hoa ordered the Beef tartare (far back)

The tuna was cut into elongated strips just like noodles, wasabi mayonnaise, tuna sauce and came with a side order of fried taro for crunchiness.

I really like this dish, fresh and yummy.  The portion was very generous.

Hoa ordered the Beef Tartare served with various mayonnaise, green apple, herbs and fried garlic

Beautiful presentation.  The beef was very tasty and came with 4 types of mayonnaise: beet, wasabi, mustard, and plain mayonnaise.

Seafood soup, Lobster bisque, calamari, Tiger prawn, scallops, seasonal vegetables.

The shrimp bisque was so flavorful and all the seafood was fresh, sweet, nice textture, and delicious.

The Mushroom consommé with puff pastry was brought out on a tray and our waiter cut off the top of the puff pastry and then serve it.

Mushroom consommé with puff pastry was made with beef tendon and shank, truffle, Foie gras, beef consommé, organic mushrooms and vegetables.

This is very French dish and it was well prepared!  This is a comfort dish at its best and with luxurious ingredients.

Pan seared Hokkaido scallops.

The scallops were seared to perfection and served with an apples sauce, purple rice and giant white corn.

Braised beef tongue in red wine sauce, fried shallots, crisp cucumber, topped with a parmesan crisp

The beef just melted in your mouth, so delicious!

Chef Elliot came out of the kitchen to talk to us.  I complimented him on his cooking skills and learned that he trained under Alain Ducasse and he also interned at El Bulli in Spain.

Les nuages is a gorgeous restaurant, ultra modern and very sleek.  Great service and the food is delicious.  All the dishes we ordered were delicious and nicely presented.  Portions are a bit too big for us but this is good news if you have a big appetite.

Overall, we had a wonderful evening at Les Nuages.
