Venice is situated on 120 islands formed by 177 canals between the mouth of the Po and Piave rivers and the Adriatic sea.  The island on which the city is built are connected by about 400 bridges.  The Grand Canal, about 3 km (2 miles) long, winds trough Venice dividing the city into two nearby equal portion.  Many consider Venice one of the most beautiful cities in the World and I have to agree.

Close by San Marcos place. I am standing on 1 of 400 bridges in Venice
