Memory Lane - 7/04

Back in 1975, when I arrived in Paris with my family (fresh off the boat...), this is the first apartment we used to live in.  It is in the 5th arrondissement in the heart of the Latin Quarter.  This place is just behind the Pantheon, which is less than 5 minutes walk.  However, I never went in the Pantheon until this trip.  We used to live there for over year until my mom found a better apartment. The place has changed a lot for the better... they cleaned up all the facades and it looks much brighter than when I was living there.

I used to roam this alley many moons ago...29 years ago to be exact!

I am showing Kevin a few shops that to this day still remain the same.

These shops have been there for over 20 years now...

Here is the street name: Passage du clos-Bruneau.

Here is the number 13, the front gate.  The door used to be green and really old.  We lived on the 1st floor. Too bad the door was close and we could not go in to check it out...

Interestingly, when Hoa arrived in Paris, his brother rented an apartment at 16, rue de la Place, which is about two streets up from our apartment. By the time, we moved in our apartment Hoa already moved out to the 18th Arrondissement.  We did not date each other yet at the time so when I found out where he used to live, it was just a funny coincidence.
