About our wines tonight

2003 Kistler Vine Hill Vineyard Chardonnay

has a Chablisien character because of its striking mineral notes in addition to lemon zest, orange rind, and a hint of tropical fruits.  It is medium to full-bodied, dense, rich, layered, backward and restrained, but powerful on the palate. It should drink well for 5-7 years.  Rating:  96-98 points by Robert Parker

2004 Rombauer Napa Valley Chardonnay

is a rich wine filled with aromas of mango, pineapple, apples and spice.  On the palate are crisp flavors of tropical fruit, integrated with rich vanilla from oak barrel aging.  A memorable finish of light oak nuances and a delicious buttery tone linger on the palate.  Rating:  90pts. 2001 Pride Mountain Vineyards Merlot

Good dark red, smoky aromas of black raspberry, coffee and nutty oak.  Lush, fat and sweet, with flavors of black raspberry and sweet oak.  Quintessential Pride merlot, with strong fruit complement not overwhelmed by 100% new oak.  Rating:  92 points by Steve Tanzers International Wine Cellar.

2003 Caymus Special Selection Cabernet Sauvignon

offers up scents of licorice, black currants, spice box, and a hint of flowers.  This deep, full-bodied, chunky 2003 should last for 13-15 years.  Intense, complex and concentrated, with a vibrant stack of flavors built around currant, blackberry and wild berry, with pretty oak nuances on the finish, along with ripe, firm tannins.  Excellent sample.  Rating:  94 points by Robert Parker.
