Dubrovnik-Old port/Dinner

We are now entering the old port located at the Eastern part of the old City.  Today the port is a safe have for many private boats and also for commercial boats dedicated to take tourists to Lokrum Island (a lots of scenes from Games of Thrones are filmed on the island).

Lots of boats are docked in the harbor.

The tall building you se on the left is St. John Fort.

St. John fort had a role in protecting the city's port and defended the harbor from the south, while the north side was protected by Fort of St. Luke. They were linked by a chain to prevent the unwanted entry of ships into the city harbor. The chain was so strong that it tore the keels on boats and it remained in use in the port until 1484.

Gorgeous view!

The old arsenal with the three arches was built in the 7th century as a four section complex consisting of four vaults with the purpose to protect the entrance to the town.

It is now Gradska Kavana Arsenal restaurant and cafe, one of the iconic and most popular places to sit and have a drink or meal indeed in the Town.

We have dinner reservation at 8:00PM so we have to go back to the Stradun which is maybe 2-3 minutes walking distance from here.

We are headed to Prijeko ul. which is parallel to the Stradun.

Rick Steves recommended Dalmatino restaurant and I really trust him.  Most of the restaurants he mentioned is his book are pretty decent.

We have reservation for 3 but since Kevin did not make it, they still gave us a table for 4.

Dalmatino is located on Prijeko ul. (street) which is filled with nice restaurants.

The menu

Bread basket

Hoa started with a beer first and water for me!

Then we ordered a nice bottle of local wine.  The wine is actually pretty good.

Starting with a Mussels in a cream wine sauce, bread crumbs and garlic.

Can't go wrong with this dish when the mussels are so fresh.

Octopus Salad with capers, finely chopped onion and tomato.- Thumbs up, very fresh and delicious.

Close look at the dish.

I did not want to eat too much so I ordered the black seafood risotto, calamari, shrimp, octopus and mussels with squid ink in the starters section.

This dish so just okay for me.  The risotto was bit dry for me but the seafood (you cannot really see it as it is covered in ink) was sweet and very fragrant.

Barely seared Tuna steak served with beans and cherry tomatoes.

Really delicious and the portion is pretty generous.

For Dessert I ordered a coconut milk panna cotta with pineapple.

After dinner the restaurant gave us glass a strawberry liquor and a glass of port-Hoa really enjoyed the strawberry liquor.

Service here is top notch and the food is also delicious but it is on the expensive side.
