Le Chien Fumant- 9/25/2019

Le Chien fumant is a small restaurant with 35 seats situated between rue de Lanaudière and rue Gilford located in the Plateau of Mont-Royal and about 20 minutes from our Air B&B apartment.

They opened their door during the winter of 2009 and have been very successful ever since.  It helps that beside having a la card menu they also have chef dinner menu including 3 appetizers, one main dish and one dessert.

The owners of Le Chien Fumant, Nicolas Gamache and Maksim Morin are always hard at work and you can find them every nigh at the restaurant.

View of the restaurant from rue de Lanaudière.

You can clearly see here that the restaurant is situated at the corner of two streets but the entrance is on the left from rue de Lanaudière

This the side of the restaurant that is facing rue  Gilford

Entrance of the restaurant is really small

This is what you see as soon as you step in...

Table overview and menu on the right.

The interior is fairly small with only 35 seats and a third is taken by the huge bar over looking the kitchen.

They gave a nice table tucked on the side that have leather banquets and is fairly private.

We came a bit earlier and we are waiting for our guest to arrive.

Hoa ordered an old fashion while waiting....

If lean a bit over from our table we can see part of the part and the kitchen (way at the end).

Tonight we are dining with Saurap, his wife, and daughter.  Saurap works for Hoa and he is located in Toronto.

They drove all the way from Toronto to spend the evening with us.

Hoa and I we ordered the chef Menu and this is the 3 appetizers we got.

Esquites, fresh corn, ancho, crema & panela

Frog's legs, celery rave, garlic confit and lemon

Pork belly, homemade pita, lettuce, tomatoes & onions.

Pork shank with shallots, and  green lentils.

Hoa and I we shared this dish and the portion is very copious.

Saurap and his wife ordered the half chicken from Cornouaille, green olives, thyme, lemon, and panisse fries,

I was told the chicken was delicious!

We finished our meal and we are now ordering desserts.

We ordered a bread pudding and a chocolate mousse

Close look at the desserts.

The baby love the desserts and she let me hold her.  Her parents told us that nobody can get close to her, she usually cried.

I went really slow so she got used to see during dinner and play with her a bit so she felt really comfortable around us toward the end of the meal.

Very nice with Saurap and his family and so kind of him to drive all the way from Toronto (over 6 hours) just to spend some time with us.
