Day 2-Ferry to Manly-12/27/2017

Today we are going to take the ferry from Circular Quay to Manly Beach.  To get there we are walking from Darling Harbor passing by a bunch of streets.

Our walk from our hotel in Darling Harbor to Circular Quay is around 30 minutes.

On our way to get to see the Sydney Tower also known as the Sydney Tower Eye.

The tower stands 1,014 ft. above the Sydney central business district (CBD), located on Market Street, between Pitt and Castlereagh Streets. The tower is open to the public, and is one of the most prominent tourist attractions in the city, being visible from a number of vantage points throughout town.

Sydney Tower is the tallest structure and the second tallest observation tower in the Southern Hemisphere.

The shopping center is at the base of the tower

Lots of stores in this area.

We are now on Martin place located in the central business district.  Martin Place is now an inner city pedestrian mall.

At the junction of Pitt Street and Martin Place is a fountain designed by Lloyd Rees.

The fountain was a background in two of the Matrix films.

Moving along, we are now on Hunter street still located in the Business district.

Huge Christmas tree in one of the square close to Hunter Street.

Radisson Hotel in Sydney.  The facade reminds me of the Flatiron building in New York City.

Once home to the Fairfax newspaper empire and the prestigious Bank of New South Wales, this historical building now accommodates business travelers and holiday guests from all over the world.

We are now reaching the Circular Quay.

Circular Quay is a harbor that used to be a working port and it is now an international passenger shipping port.

The Circular Quay area is a popular area for tourism and consists of walkways, pedestrian malls, parks and restaurants.

It hosts a number of ferry quays, bus stops, and a railway station. Often referred to as the "gateway to Sydney", the precinct has views of the Sydney Harbor Bridge and the Sydney Opera House and is a common location for viewing Sydney New Year's Eve fireworks

Huge cruise boat!

It take about 30 minutes from Circular Quay to Mainly by ferry boat.

Here the ferry is dropping off passengers from Mainly.  We will get on the ferry as soon as all the passengers get off.

Boarding the ferry.

The ferry is moving along, passing the quay around the Opera house.

Looking back at where we originally board the ferry.

Getting close to the Opera house.

The Opera house is really massive.

We are getting away from the city...
